Billy Collins Inspired Poem

Growing up

I wake up at six AM regularly

Facing the responsibilities of the day seems almost cruel

Like a thousand pound weight I have tied on my back

Each year, they grow twice the size.

1000, 2000, 3000

Until one crumples beneath it.

The weight will win,

Unless I say it can’t.

It won’t win.

I become stronger everyday.
